AFTON 

Named for a mountain nestled in the Blue Ridge foothills of Virginia, Afton is rooted in escapism. A proposed concept store and artist residency, Afton is a direct response to individuals looking to alternative systems of self-sufficient communities for insight into how we may live better. 

Referencing the utopian Shaker community for both its aesthetics and principals, Afton is defined by intentionality, appreciation for materials, and celebrating the spirit of making and craftsmanship. Designing a space for like minded freelance creatives, the artist residency program encourages practitioners to continuously question what they want to create, how they will do it, and why they are working in this manner. 

A contemporary translation of a 19th century American general store, consumers are able to opt in locally with small batch collection drops consisting of fashion, art, and design as a means for a less disposable relations to material culture. A form of quiet elegance, the simplicity and utility of each collection becomes a form of luxury.
